BALLOON LIFE magazine is the independent flagship magazine for hot air ballooning. With a service history dating back nearly two decades and a loyal circulation of several thousand subscribers, the bimonthly magazine has long been a staple of ballooning.

BALLOON LIFE reaches out to readers to ensure that they have access to the best information available for safe and enjoyable flying, and that they can read about the issues and events that matter most. We seek out the most interesting and colorful aspects of the ballooning world, and do our best to inform and entertain readers.

The magazine’s most popular features include as the annual Balloon Buyers Guide, and regular sections such as Hangar Flying, Logbook, Preflight, and the State of Ballooning. The magazine’s rich repository of data collected through the years is available on the magazine’s website. Tom Hamilton, who founded the magazine in 1986, remains as a contributor and consultant.

The magazine is published by is published by William G. Armstrong Jr. a longtime balloonist with a solid background in writing, publishing and marketing. He is a former vice president and director of the Balloon Federation of America, and former editor of BFA Skylines. He has served as president of The Lighter-Than-Air Society and the Balloon Flyers of Akron, as a founding director of the Northeast Ohio Balloon Pilots Association, and a member of the Connecticut Lighter-Than-Air Society. He has worked in the news and public relations business in a variety of assignments, including as vice president for communications of Airship Management Services. He serves as a Captain in the U.S. Naval Reserve. A commercial balloon pilot since 1974, he currently owns two hot air balloons. He is the author of Just Wind which provides a behind-the-scenes look at the 1974 trans-Atlantic attempt of Col. Tom Gatch, and the Earthwinds Trans-Global attempts in the 1990s. A native of Ohio, he lives in Greenwich, Connecticut.
