1994 was a busy year for the Aerostar engineers as they successfully completed the certification of the AEGIS IR Remote Temperature Sensing System. This revolutionary technology has never been available before in any balloon system. Now, after many years of research and development, the Aegis units are a giant leap forward in ballooning.
Aerostar has taken the lead in fabric development with our new line of "Diamond Weave" fabrics. The Aerostar and Aeromax fabrics are backed with the best warranties in the industry. Aerostar, our standard fabric carries a 350 hour/7 year warranty. Aeromax, for extended hour flying, comes with a 500 hour 5 year warranty. Since the coatings on the fabric are on the inside of the balloon. The "Diamond Weave" fabrics won’t pick up dust and dirt like other fabrics. It’s high sheen and durable weave means your balloon will look better longer! For special applications, our Aerolite fabric gives you the only alternative in the industry for a sturdy, ultra lightweight fabric.
In 1991, Aerostar-rejuvenated the balloon market with the highly successful Aurora 54K which has yet to be equaled in the world of ballooning. This year, Aerostar introduced the next generation of affordable sport balloons with the Aero 69. The Aero 69 is a 69,000 cubic foot envelope that comes with a multitude of standard features. The Aero 69 is perfect for higher altitudes, warmer climes, bigger payloads and smaller costs!
In early 1995, Aerostar introduced a new basket to our extensive family of sport baskets. The new Classic II meets the needs of the balloonist who is looking for that little extra bit of room and flexibility. The Classic II is also the smallest balloon basket to incorporate a lay down 20 and stand up 15 gallon tanks as an optional configuration. No other company can match the many fuel capacities Aerostar can offer. Don’t forget to ask about the optional colored wicker accents for that complete package look!
When you think about fuel tanks, you can now think about the new V18 stand up fuel tank. This 18 gallon tank is the same diameter as the V15 and provides a 20% increase in fuel capacity with only an 8% increase in tank weight. The V18 is available as an option on all baskets except the Aurora.
The engineers at Aerostar have developed a new "Glow Burner". This liquid fire adaptation allows you the capacity to burn a bright orange flame at the flip of a switch. It’s great for night glowing activities. Actuate the Glow Burner with the main blast and you add an additional 6 million BTU’s to your output. Great for quick recoveries and fast ascents in competitive situations.

The advanced design department at Aerostar has created some of the most spectacular special shaped balloons in the world. Every Aerostar balloon can be custom designed using any of the standard 18 colors, or, for additional cost, gold and silver mylar fabric. All Aerostar envelopes are constructed with Aerostar’s exclusive Diamond Weave Aerostar fabric. AeroMax_ extended life fabric and AeroLite_ fabric are available for some or all portions of the envelope at an additional cost. All Aerostar balloons through the 105,000 cu. ft. balloons come standard with a parachute style deflation system, and some models are available in SpringTop_, AeroChute or Para-Rip deflation systems, choice of stainless steel or Kevlar_ suspension cables, choice of skirt or Kynol lined dipper and choice of carabiner or A-block and pin envelope attachment points. All Aerostar balloons come in a heavy duty waterproof storage bag with lots of handles. All Aerostar models include a hand woven wicker and rattan basket with soft padded side rails. All baskets include adjustable height, woven steps, oak skids, plenty of handles and hardwood floor. Rigid uprights are standard. Baskets come with two 15-gallon stainless steel fuel tanks (20- gallon on Aurora, largest system come with greater fuel capacity), tank covers, basket half cover, Ball M55 electronic instruments with digital altimeter, and Aegis IR_ wireless pyrometer.
