Carl Gage has operated a commercial balloon service in Costa Mesa since January of 1976. Hot and cold air balloon construction and repairs for all makes and models of balloons are available at FAA certified repair station #YJBR999L. Free flight and tethered ride service utilizing super pressure balloons is also available.

In the 1980's Carl Gage, aided by Lyle Eckmeier, started certification of the "Sky Sailor" line of hot air balloons. Gage worked on basket, burner and envelope certification . During the 90's, Gage operated a full service airport at Oceano in San Luis Obispo County. In 1995, Don Piccard aided in completion of the certification on the Sky Sailor series at Paso Robles Airport, San Luis Obispo County.

Sky Sailor Balloons have a number of patents and outstanding features, including the sky vent top. Perfected by Don Piccard, the sky vent top holds Patent #4,836.471. The slide guide vent system included in this system allows a patent approved system for keeping the vent and top line out of the high heat area. Riser tapes make up a high tension wire safe riser from the basket. The basket upright employs a special post tension system that keeps positive pressure on uprights at all times and is maintained by a special shock absorber system. All Sky Sailor Balloons have a bulbous gore system to reduce envelope fabric tensile stress on all gore sections. The system reduces fabric loading and allows for reduced fabric loading between gores, allowing for the lowest fabric test of 15 psi tensile test strength. Lower fabric loading reduces envelope stress and allows for longer life of the balloon envelope, a very important feature for both sport or commercial ballooning. Some envelopes using this system are still flying after 30 years of use.

Stainless steel 15 gallon fuel tanks are standard on all AX-7 models and later systems. All baskets, burners and uprights pack down to a disassembled size that fits in standard size pick-up trucks or vans, saving extra trailer costs for storage and transportation.

4. All baskets are hand crafted and padded with high quality leather. All baskets have passed a 5,000 lb. load test for certification. Each basket has a personal name plate and I.D. tag.
