Balloonists generally like to surround themselves with pictures, kickknacks and other colorful icons of the sport. The balloon calendar is certainly one such icon that hangs proudly in homes and offices across the land, and Ron Behrmann’s calendars are some of the best around.
Ron Behrmann, balloon pilot, photographer, and Balloon Life staff photographer, presents the 1997, A Beautiful Year Ballooning Engagement Calendar.
The calendar measures 8.5 inches by 11 inches and opens with the color photograph at the top and a calendar on the bottom half. Each month highlights one of Ron’s outstanding color photos from balloon events around the U.S. The date blocks on the “calendar” side of each month leave ample room to write in important functions, like your next balloon event.
Looking for events to attend? The front of the calendar lists date, location, and phone number for 48 balloon events. Taken from Balloon Life’s comprehensive listing, many of the rallies have been featured in articles in the pages of Balloon Life.
Ron has been photographing balloons ever since he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1977. His photography business has taken him around the world to photograph many beautiful places. But ballooning is his favorite subject. In 1988 Ron covered the Trans-Australian balloon event for Balloon Life. In 1992 he traveled to Wadi Rumm, Jordan for the Royal Jordanian balloon celebration.
Ron spends much of the balloon flying season attending balloon events around the country. How does he get so many great balloon pictures? As Ron says in the introduction to the calendar, “It’s about getting yourself into the right place at the right time. And that’s not always where you’d expect it to be. It might be on top of a hill, in a parking lot, or away from the place where most people are watching the balloons.” Like this month’s cover shot.
The calendar is available directly from Ron Behrmann Photography, 8405 Monitor Drive NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87109. The calendar is $7.95 postpaid in the U.S., $9.95 (US Funds) postpaid to Canada and Mexico, and $15.95 (US Funds) postpaid to other countries.
