Cameron invented the special shape in 1976, and has since built nearly 300 other intricate shapes, like those of the Disney and Forbes Collections. The engineering excellence and features demanded by special shapes is inherent in every Cameron built, making Cameron the choice of experienced pilots ¾ pilots like 5 of the most recent 6 U.S. National Champions, or 11 of the past 20. Moreover, both Absolute World Records for Duration and Distance are held by pilots flying Camerons. Steve Fossett captured the world Distance record in 1995 in an off-the-shelf Cameron Roziere, and in 1997 went on to fly halfway around the planet in yet another Cameron Roziere, shattering his own record in the process.

Cameron balloons are built on a foundation of superior engineering designs ¾ designs generated and well tested by the industry's single largest and most comprehensive factory team. Indeed, Cameron has never had an FAA Airworthiness Directive (product recall) issued against its product.

From the eight gore "V" series to the smooth 24 gore "N", Cameron offers more certified envelope options than any other manufacturer. Four different burners and thirteen different standard basket models and sizes are available.

Standard Features / Unmatched Service
Many standard features on a Cameron are extra-cost options on other brands. The standard burner on all balloons up to 100,000 cubic feet (except Concept) is the Ultra Single (pictured at right) ¾ the industry's only single burner that offers true redundancy with dual pilot lights, dual pressure gauges, dual simultaneous fuel delivery, and dual blast and whisper valves. Other Cameron features include, among others:

Standard Cameron Features
Envelope: Custom color pattern (any combination within existing seams), Cameron's exclusive Loaded-Mouthª for efficient inflations, full Nomexª base panels, Hyperlastª parachute, full Nomex Pressure Scoopª, Kevlarª or stainless steel envelope suspension cables, Kevlarª deflation line, Corduraª water-resistant carrying bag. Double rotation vents standard on models 140,000 cubic feet and above.
Burner and Fuel System: Two 15 gallon stainless (or three 10 gallon aluminum) tanks with padded covers. Fully gimbaled MK IV Ultra Single burner on models up to 100,000 cubic feet, (except Concept series, standard with the MK IV Single), Whisper auxiliary quiet burner, vapor or liquid pilot light, and piezzo electronic ignition. Models 105,000 cu. ft. and larger come standard with the MK IV Super Double burner. Models 250,000 cu. ft. standard with the MK IV Ultra Triple burner.
Basket: 42"x50" (42"x36" on Concept) Sport basket with shock-absorbent all-woven floor, hardwood skids, leather scuff edge, carrying handles on outside, inside hand-holds, built-in-step, padded cordura bolster and upright covers, document display case, fire extinguisher.
Instruments: Ball M55 Flight Computer.
