The first U.S. built Lindstrand was delivered in March of 1996. Throughout the remainder of 1996, the Illinois facility produced 28 more balloons. Lindstrand owners have ranged from the pleasure pilot desiring all the extra features our systems offer to prestigious national commercial clients, such as AT&T, RE/MAX, Williams Scotsman and LA-Z-BOY.

Located in the northwest corner of Illinois, this area is known for its scenic beauty and recreational amenities. Balloonists are encouraged to visit the factory and fly with us.

Lindstrand Balloons USA is wholly owned by Phil Thompson, an FAA designated DMIR and DER (flight test pilot), who has been in balloon manufacturing for the past 14 years.

As a licensee of Lindstrand Balloons Ltd., LBUSA has access to the engineering and technical resources of Per Lindstrand and his staff with over 160-years' collective manufacturing experience. Lindstrand is the most capable balloon manufacturing team in history.

The Lindstrand philosophy centers on offering a better ballooning experience for our customers. With our staff of highly trained engineers and pilots, we are committed to providing the service necessary to make Lindstrand ownership a rewarding and enjoyable experience.

The latest in CAD technology is used to conceive and to create state-of-the-art conventional and special shape hot air balloons, gas balloons, and thermal airships.

We offer numerous options which allow each aircraft to be highly customized. The ultra-fast SuperChuteª deflation system, the JetStreamª burner, and the Ascot baskets combine unsurpassed engineering excellence with unparalleled beauty.

The JetStreamTM burner derived its name and basic design features from experience gained on world-record flights in the high altitude jet stream. Challenging flight conditions of sub-zero temperatures, oxygen starvation, and violent wind shear motivated the Lindstrand engineering staff to design the most advanced burner system available.

Most components are produced in-house for strict "hands on" quality control. New products and techniques are constantly being developed; i.e. our ability to reproduce photographic images onto the curved surface of the envelope. This offers an exciting option for our commercial customers and customers who prefer balloons of special shapes.

Envelope styles are available in 12, 24, and 28 gore designs and in sizes of 21,000 through 310,000 cubic ft. which are designed to offer the most pattern options by utilizing multiple horizontal panels. Color changes can be made at any of the seams, and our computer design program which runs in Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator, or Windows Paintbrush makes it easy for our customers to design the balloons of their dreams.

You may tailor your balloon system exactly to your personal needs, because we offer: Hyperlifeª, our tough long-life, extended warranty fabric; a choice of 10, 15 and 20 gallon stainless fuel tanks, and more than 15 standard baskets sizes offered with a choice of woven or plywood floors with suede or leather trim.

By combining the popular features which more balloonists want, and by offering the latest in proven burner-technology, and by always emphasizing customer service and satisfaction, Lindstrand is leading the way to the future!
