Agency, Inc.
Maurer-Noel
has decided to retire from insuring hot air
and gas balloons.
“All
existing
policies with
U.S.
Spe-
cialty
Insurance
Company
will
remain
in
effect and will be serviced by IMC,” Tom
Reussé
told
Balloon Life
.
“Call
IMC

your existing policy, or to report a claim.”
Reussé said that when U.S. Specialty
policies
written
by
Maurer-Noel
expire
they will
be renewed
by
Jefferson

helicopter pilot from Savan-
nah, Georgia has
set
a new world
record
for an
unrefueled duration flight
in
a hot
air balloon. Andy
Cayton flew his
AX-6
category
hot
air
balloon,
named
Savan-
nah Six, a total of twenty-three hours and
fifty-six
minutes
in
temperatures
as
low
successful
flight
began
in
Sioux
Falls,
South Dakota and concluded near Fargo,
North
Dakota over snow covered terrain
on
December
13,
2000. His
flight,
once
ratified, will establish a new world record
in
class
A,
size
AX-6
hot
air
balloons,
beating
the existing
record
by
two hours
and one minute.
Mr.
Cayton,
who
left
the
Army
in
1995, has been flying hot air balloons for
five
years
and
plans
to
attempt
another
record
flight to
capture the world
record
for distance. That attempt
will
begin this
winter
in
Canada
and
will
likely
take
place some time in mid-January or Febru-
ary, depending on Arctic weather patterns
that move southeastward
over the north-
ern
United States.

flight

Air
Games

skydiving

jet
aircraft

jumpers

expedition
